The Landis grinder may have a low speed (new wheel) and a high speed (worn wheel) setup on the pulleys. If the wheel speed is too fast the wheel will act harder and burn the work. Make sure that the motor pulley is using the smaller diameter grooves for the new wheel. The work speed or feed rates may be too low.
