Abstract The kinetics of slowing down of breakage rates for fine wet grinding of 20×30 mesh quartz fraction was investigated as a function of slurry concentration in a laboratory batch ball mill. It was discovered that the slowing-down effect occurred to all particle sizes in the charge and at any slurry concentrations even for very dilute conditions.
Also, wet ultra-fine grinding of a limestone powder (< 100 µm) has been investigated based on the effect of slurry rheology. The grinding results through various parameters (i.e., molecular weight of a dispersant, solids concentration, additive dosage, additive …
Rheology of slurry significantly influenced the grindability, fine grinding performance and energy consumption of industrial minerals in wet grinding. The solid concentration, particle size, temperature and the dispersant, which affected the rheological characteristics of pyrite slurry and the biooxidation process were investigated in this study.
2007 (English) Doctoral thesis, comprehensive summary (Other academic) Abstract [en] This thesis investigates slurry rheology of industrial minerals (limestone and quartzite) and its effects on wet ultra-fine grinding in order to reduce energy cost, increase the throughput as well as the product fineness.
In a closed industrial grinding circuit, such interact are even more pronounced, and in some cases, these effects may be cancelled out by each other. It is therefore important to select an appropriate criterion for milling performance in the investigation of …

The results show that slurry rheology does influence industrial grinding. The trends of these effects on Grinding Index depend upon the rheological nature of the slurry-whether the slurries are dilatant or pseudoplastic, and whether they exhibit a high or low yield stress. The interpretation of the regression results is discussed, the observed ...

1.. IntroductionSlurry rheology has been recognized for decades to play an important role in wet grinding (Austin et al., 1984, Napier-Munn et al., 1996, Tucker, 1982, Shi and Napier Munn, 2002).Various instruments (Reeves, 1985, Shi and Napier Munn, 1996, Bakshi et al., 1999, Huynh et al., 2000) and approaches (Watson and Morrison, 1986, Montini and Moys, 1988) were proposed to …
Abstract. Wet ultrafine grinding has been increasingly used for production of ultrafine powders in various industries. It has been known that slurry rheology significantly influences the grindability of industrial minerals in wet ultrafine grinding. This review represents some previous work with respect to slurry rheology in ultrafine grinding.
Rheology and viscosity are some of the most important characteristics associated with sealants and adhesives which should display liquid-like properties (they should flow) in order to be applied but must also have sufficient 'tack' to stick to or bind substrates together – behaviour which is influenced by viscoelastic properties.
In mineral flotation, rheological problems have limited the efficient upgrading of low-grade and complex ores. Since pulp and froth rheology are deemed to play different roles in influencing the separation performance, in this paper, a brief review on pulp and froth rheology in flotation is provided, with an objective of developing a basic understanding of rheology in flotation.
Secondly, rheology measurements for suspensions are described briefly. Thirdly, a review of rheology studies in grinding, classification, flotation, dewatering, and tailings management is done, outlining possible ways of determining types of particle associations in slurries. Finally, recommendations for future research directions are provided.

This article summarizes slurry rheology influence on the grinding throughput of batch laboratory and continuous plant-scale mills operating in open and closed circuit configurations. The results of controlled changes in percent solids, particle size, slurry temperature, and viscosity control chemicals were demonstrated. More specifically, dilatant slurries show first order breakage.

Food rheology is not equal to food texture but there is considerable overlap. The perception of the bolus of a chewed food in the mouth depends on the flow of the fluid and the disintegrated semi-solid food i.e. the rheology of the food. The perception also depends on the release or absorption of moisture and oil and grinding and fracture of

The evaluation of grinding aid (GA) effect on clinker processing in laboratory grinding mills is relatively simple. Yet, the results obtained cannot be directly transposed to industrial mills, given the fundamentally different operational modes and grinding parameters. This paper seeks to evaluate the scale effect by comparing the results obtained from a closed-circuit tube mill operating at ...

The majority of research on rheology in mineral processing has been focused on ore grinding. Shi and Napier-Munn (2002) have analysed the data of 45 surveys from full scale grinding mills, using regression analysis, and shown that slurry rheology affects industrial grinding.
